Yes, even if the electricity or gas supply is active, you need to take out a contract in your name.
The amount of your subscription, and therefore of your bill, will depend on the power rating and options chosen. The power rating of your installation is the capacity to run your home's electrical equipment simultaneously; it is expressed in kVA (kilovolt-amperes).
Your contract is entered into for a period of one year. It is then automatically renewed by tacit renewal.
Your customer area lets you view your consumption history and complete your energy profile, helping you better understand your usage.
The figures (or index) shown on your meter are used to measure your electricity consumption (in kWh) or gas consumption (in m3).
The Off-Peak Hours option allows you to benefit from a lower kWh price during 8-hour nighttime periods each day.
Consider subscribing to it if you have electric storage heating, a programmable washing machine, or an electric water heater.
It is 8 hours per day. During this period, you benefit from a reduced energy price. To do so, you must subscribe to the specific peak/off-peak hours contract.

First, check your indoor wiring and your appliances. If the trip occurs systematically when turning on an appliance, try switching off as many devices as possible before turning it on again. If the problem persists, that appliance is likely faulty.
If you do not notice any problem, the power rating of your contract is probably not suitable: you likely need to increase it and modify your contract.
We invite you to contact our Sales Department at (+377) 92 05 66 44.
Your bill details your consumption, the billing period, as well as the rates and taxes applied.

Yes, you must still terminate your SMEG contract, as it has no connection to your lease / property deed of sale.
You remain responsible for the electrical (and/or gas) installation of your former home.
Load-shedding plans were developed alongside the development of electrical networks. They are updated every year, along with consumption and production forecasts. This emergency measure, which has existed in Monaco for more than 20 years, protects the European electrical system against the risk of a black-out if electricity production capacity is no longer sufficient to meet the population's energy needs. In recent years, production capacity has generally been sufficient to cover consumption at all times, even though load shedding has sometimes been mentioned due to severe cold weather or the unavailability of certain power plants, or has been carried out locally. As the risk was very low, stakeholders communicated very little about it. For the coming winter, three factors are putting the French electrical network, as well as the European network, under strain and increasing the risk of load shedding. First, a large part of the French nuclear fleet is undergoing maintenance, with half of the reactors currently shut down. Schedules anticipate that they will be brought back into service for winter if maintenance programs proceed as planned.
In addition, some European countries rely on electricity production facilities whose primary energy source is natural gas. However, the global post-Covid recovery and international tensions are creating uncertainty about the quantities of gas that will be available to Europe this winter, and consequently about the electricity that can be produced. Drought is the last factor of uncertainty, as the water reserves that allow hydroelectric plants to produce electricity, particularly in winter, are not full.
Winter consumption, meanwhile, depends on temperatures, which cannot be predicted far in advance and can sometimes be more severe than normal during cold spells. The consumption that would result from such a period of intense cold can be estimated, along with its impact on the electrical system. In the event of strain on the electrical system, and difficulties adjusting production to demand, the last remaining lever is controlling and reducing consumption.
A black-out is an unwanted interruption of all or part of the electrical network following a fault or an incident. There are many possible causes, including weather-related events (storms, snow…) or unpredictable events (forest fires under power lines, accidental cable damage…).
The load-shedding plan protects against the specific risk of a black-out in the event of insufficient production to cover power needs at a given moment. That said, a major outage is always possible for any other reason.
Production and consumption forecasts are made continuously at the scale of the European electrical system. They provide visibility over several months.
The Principality's electrical grid is supplied by France and is therefore exposed to the same risks. It is thus necessary to remind every consumer how important it is to consume sparingly and to put good habits into practice. This solidarity in moderating power demand limits the risk of production becoming temporarily insufficient to cover needs.
To this end, SMEG is launching a communication campaign on social media around eco-friendly actions to be carried out throughout the year, and especially in winter.
Short-term forecasts provide good visibility into consumption for the coming hours and days. If risk situations are confirmed, SMEG will communicate very widely with consumers to inform them of the time slots and days during which it is essential that they reduce their consumption. The hours during which consumption is highest are from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in winter and on weekdays, and the risk may occur for a few days during the winter period.
If these voluntary actions to temporarily reduce demand are not sufficient, SMEG will carry out a 5% voltage reduction across the entire electrical grid, in coordination with the Princely Government, allowing the overall supply to be maintained. This voltage reduction will generate a decrease in consumption that poses no risk to consumers' equipment.
After implementing all these measures, if the risk situation persists, targeted, controlled, local power cuts of a maximum of 2 hours will be carried out as a last resort, in coordination with the Princely Government, affecting non-sensitive consumers.
There is no threat of a "blackout" linked to an electricity shortage.
Ahead of any risk, more than ever, better control of one's consumption collectively contributes both to protecting the environment and to greater energy availability.
The communications that SMEG and the Princely Government will issue regarding the targeted reduction of consumption should be taken with the utmost consideration by everyone, in order to avoid putting the electrical system at risk this winter.
A large number of measures will be taken before it becomes necessary to carry out occasional, localized power cuts, but this risk cannot be ruled out.
In all cases, the public and businesses will be informed in advance of the hours and days during which the electrical grid will be at risk.
